Centro de Mejoramiento de Calidad de Vida (CEMECAV)

The Quality of Life Improvement Center (CEMECAV) is a daytime project where adults over the age of 21, with mild or moderate mental retardation, receive varied services that promote their integration into the community.  Through this program participants receive daily services of lunch, transportation, development of home management skills, recreational activities, sports, social integration skills, basic skills for employment and other services. All these services are provided within an environment supervised and specially prepared to serve this type of clientele. Due to the Pandemic, our services are currently limited, but we still keep in touch and have offered social activities so that they do not lose touch with their peers.

Typically, this program has a driver, a cook, a recreational leader, a case manager, an independent living teacher, an arts and crafts teacher. Together with the administrative staff, they make up the team that serves the participants.  Through this same program we offer information and referral services to anyone with physical and/or developmental disabilities who needs our guidance to seek help in the community.

We currently have 50 clients that are serviced by our project regularly. They not only received our services, but also receive our love, understanding, and the respect that they deserve.
