AMPI’s logo: History

AMPI’s logo was the brainchild of one of our participants. His reasoning for his work, originally in plasticine, was that he thought that in AMPI we cared for them, no matter whether they had or had not any physical disabilities. He also said that it felt like home, thus the house around the people. His name is Harold Rodríguez. He was a regular member at AMPI and one of our champions in the sport of bocce. He currently lives in California with his sister, because his mother is very old. His sister took them to live with her so that he would get used to it, for when his mother is no longer present in their lives. I must add that the wheels in the design represent job opportunities for them. This was one of AMPI's initial programs, through a sheltered workshop program. It was one of the first types of jobs designed for people with intellectual disabilities.
